Little & Wild Stitches

I’m Penny, a local mum, former primary school teacher and lifelong maker. I began my sewing business in 2017, creating handmade children's clothing, quilts and other sewn treasures. Over the years, I’ve developed my own fabric designs, printed onto fabric woven in UK mills, and discovered just how rewarding it is to turn a piece of fabric into something truly individual.

With a PGCE in Primary Education and a Master of Education, I love helping people learn new skills and grow in confidence. Little & Wild Stitches brings those two passions together: teaching and making.

My sewing lessons are designed to be welcoming, practical and creative, whether you’re a complete beginner who isn’t quite sure how to thread a machine or someone who’s ready to tackle a new project. From quilting to handmade clothing, bags and smaller projects, there are so many possibilities to explore.

I’m also hoping to offer sewing opportunities for children and home-educated learners, helping the next generation discover the satisfaction of making things for themselves.

You don’t need to be an expert, own a sewing room or have years of experience. Just bring your curiosity, a willingness to have a go and perhaps a little patience when the thread inevitably tangles!  In order to be able to progress at home, a kit list will be provided. Please ask advice if this is a completely foreign language to you. No question is silly.

Because sewing isn’t just about the finished item. It's the journey getting there. It’s about learning something new, finding time to be creative and having the satisfaction of saying, “I made that.”  And let's not forget... a valid excuse to buy some new fabric!
