Lavender fields, golden light and beautiful family moments
For a short window each summer, the beautiful fields at Hitchin Lavender burst into colour — soft purple rows, dreamy golden light and one of the most stunning natural backdrops for family photos.
These mini sessions are relaxed, natural and perfect for updating your family photos without committing to a full session. The lavender creates a timeless setting with space for children to explore, cuddle in close and simply be themselves.
This is also an incredible venue for a full family session. Alongside the lavender, there are also sunflowers and wildflower meadows at certain times of the season, offering even more variety and colour.
Because of the time needed to transition between these locations, sunflowers and wildflower meadows are only available during full sessions. Mini sessions will take place within the lavender fields to keep everything relaxed and ensure you get the most from your time.
If you'd love a more varied gallery and the opportunity to use multiple areas, a full session at this stunning venue is highly recommended.

-
Lavender fields

-
More relaxed time together
Sunflowers and wildflower meadows are not included in mini sessions due to the time needed to move between areas.
Parking is available on-site at Hitchin Lavender. Please park up and enter the lavender fields via the main ticketed entrance.
You must purchase your admission tickets directly with Hitchin Lavender to access the site. Please ensure you book the correct tickets for your session date and arrival time, as entry is not included within your mini session.
Once inside, please make your way to the main area with the picnic benches, amenities tents and food vehicles. I will come and greet you there and walk you to our session location.
Please aim to arrive 10–15 minutes before your session time to allow for parking and entry.
A gentle wet weather plan is in place, and sessions will go ahead in light rain where possible. However, in the case of torrential rain or weather warnings, sessions will be rescheduled to Thursday 2nd July, so please be sure to keep this date available in case a change is necessary.

Arrivals & Timing
Please note that clients are responsible for arriving on time for their session. These mini sessions are scheduled back-to-back, and late arrivals may result in reduced shooting time and possibly cancellation of your shoot.
We strongly recommend arriving 15 minutes early to allow time to park, get comfortable, and let little ones settle in and burn off that initial excitement. It’s a great chance to get familiar with the surroundings — just please avoid the designated photoshoot area until your session begins and be mindful of others using the fields.

FAQ's
How many people can attend?
These sessions are suitable for a family of five. If you would like to add further family members please get in touch and we can book out more than one session as logistically you will require more time.
Who is this shoot ideal for?
Lavender mini sessions are perfect for families wanting beautiful, natural images in a stunning summer setting without committing to a full session. They work best for immediate families, children and parents, and those happy with a short and relaxed experience.
What happens if my child doesn't cooperate?
That’s completely okay.
My sessions are relaxed and child-led, with plenty of space to play, explore and settle in. Some of the most beautiful images come from those natural, in-between moments.
Can we bring pets?
Yes, well-behaved dogs are very welcome! Please just let me know in advance so I can plan accordingly.
What if we're late?
Mini sessions run back-to-back, so if you arrive late your session time will be reduced. If you miss your slot entirely, I may not be able to accommodate you as there isn’t buffer time between sessions.
Please allow extra time for parking, purchasing tickets, and walking to the meeting point. I recommend arriving 10–15 minutes early. If you think you may be late, please message me as soon as possible, but additional time cannot be guaranteed.
Can we purchase prints or albums?
Yes!
Prints and albums are available on request, with prices varying depending on size and style. I always recommend professional printing to bring out the true beauty and detail of your images.

Want More Variety?
If you'd love images across the lavender, sunflowers and wildflower meadows, a full session is the best option. These allow enough time to move between locations and create a beautifully varied gallery.
Full sessions at Hitchin Lavender are limited — please get in touch to enquire.
What to Wear - Colours & Textures for Lavender Season
The soft purple tones of the lavender fields photograph beautifully with a gentle, natural colour palette. Choosing the right colours helps keep your images timeless and ensures the focus stays on your family.
Colours that work beautifully
-
Soft neutrals (cream, beige, oat, stone)
-
Light blues and denim
-
Soft sage and muted greens
-
Dusty pinks and blush tones
-
Warm whites (rather than bright white)
-
Soft mustard or pale yellow (used sparingly)
These tones complement the lavender without overpowering it and keep everything feeling soft and cohesive.
Colours to avoid
-
Bright neon colours
-
Bold reds or strong oranges
-
Large logos or graphics
-
Very dark black (can feel heavy against the soft setting)
-
Clashing patterns
Textures that photograph beautifully
-
Linen
-
Cotton
-
Muslin
-
Knitwear (lightweight)
-
Lace and broderie
-
Flowy dresses and skirts
-
Soft layers and natural fabrics
These textures add movement and interest while keeping the look relaxed and natural.
Top tips
-
Coordinate, don’t match exactly
-
Choose 2–3 colours across the family
-
Start with one outfit (usually mum) and build around it
-
Flowy dresses work especially beautifully in the lavender
-
Barefoot or neutral shoes work best

Short, relaxed mini sessions in one of the most stunning summer locations.
Important Information About Entry Tickets
Please note that all families attending must also purchase their own entry tickets to access the lavender fields. These are not included within your mini session price.
Your session fee does, however, include the professional photography fee required by the lavender fields, which allows me to photograph at this location.
You can purchase your entry tickets here. Your ticket must correspond with the same date and time as your scheduled session, as access to the fields is controlled by timed entry.
Without a valid entry ticket, you will not be able to access the location for your session, so please ensure these are booked as soon as possible after securing your space.
